Project Overview

Problem Statement

The Greater Vancouver area is facing a critical shortage of family doctors, resulting in long wait times and unmet healthcare needs.

Objectives

Design a seamless digital experience that empowers users to find and book appointments with family doctors effortlessly. Create an intuitive user interface that prioritizes accessibility and ease of use for diverse audiences. Develop an efficient search and filtering system to help users quickly find available doctors based on location, availability, and specialty.

Context

This project was a group design assignment focused on creating a mobile app as a solution for a problem we are passionate about.

My Role

I contributed to research, ideation, wireframing, and prototyping to ensure the app met the needs of users in finding and booking appointments with family doctors, with assistance from fellow designers Dana Abedalrazaq  and Hudson Campbell.

The Design Process

Research

We conducted research by interviewing 30 individuals to understand the challenges of accessing family doctors in Greater Vancouver. Key findings included long wait times, difficulty in booking appointments, and a need for more accessible features, especially for older adults and people with disabilities. Secondary research further highlighted the strong preference for digital platforms to make healthcare access more efficient. These insights directly influenced the development of the HealthGo app.

Task Flow Chart

Mapped out key user journeys. Highlighted pain points and decision points based on research findings.

Reflection

Working on HealthGo taught me a lot about the design process, especially in a collaborative setting. We faced challenges in aligning our ideas and communicating effectively, but overcoming these led to a more cohesive and user-friendly app. The project gave me valuable experience in collaboration and problem-solving, and I’m proud of what we created.
